Each country can boast at least one zoo; in the United States most individual countries, many zoos and aquariums. Each creature in each of these facilities requires special care and handling. Zoos and aquariums are subject to rigid state and federal regulations to ensure proper care of all species. However, as one can imagine, to protect so many animals in captivity can become a daunting task. Much of the responsibility lies with the individuals responsible for the daily care and maintenance of these animals.

Careers in animal and veterinary science in zoos or aquariums have a huge range of technical knowledge. Jobs from animal caretakers, handlers, and feed on animal training and those who stand with animals all the way up to veterinarians, zoologists and marine biologists to acquire and care for the animals and fish when the issue comes up. Care and protection of fish and animals in human captivity is an awesome responsibility, one that requires cooperation and observant attendance caring individuals on many levels.

It is particularly important in these cases of human care that every person associated with the conservation of these animals to be open and honest with each other about the behavior and condition of the fish or animal. Many of these animals are so big or heavy they need a team of caregivers. These individuals must communicate about the behavior of the animals continuously their own protection and safety of fish and animals as well.
